Forum: feature_films Subject: Does the ftp server allow resumption of interrupted downloads?

I am having trouble trying to resume interrupted ftp downloads from the movie archives. My software (WS_FTPPRO) provides for it, but when I try to resume a partial download, it starts again at the beginning of the file. Is the problem at my end, or does the archive's ftp server preclude resuming an interrupted download?

I have successfully resumed uploads to Archive servers using smartftp and ncftp.

It allows resuming, however, if you have it configured to immediately resume and your disconnection is a very ungraceful one then your resume will appear to be a parallel upload (since the old connection may still be sitting around on the server waiting to close.

We are working on other FTP servers to try to solve some other problems at the moment and hopefully resuming is one of the things we will make more robust. You are not the only user having this issue.
